There’s a new craze on the scene and it’s all thanks to BandSpaces.com, the latest project developed by Toronto’s own Sugardevil Artist Promotions.
BandSpaces
is taking over Myspace, one band at
a time by custom designing artists'
profiles to an elaborate degree. If
you haven't heard about Myspace yet,
they really can't help you - but for
those of you who have, you know how
hard it is to create a profile that
stands out from the rest.
BandSpaces has come up with a way to
alter the typical Myspace profile concept
to make it look and feel like a band's
actual website, for a fraction of the
cost, yet bands are still able to take
advantage of all the networking, music
sharing and custom updating tools available
on
Myspace.com.
Currently, BandSpaces.com has redefined the profiles of Universal Music Canada’s street team, the Blacktop Guerillas, and local rock bands Mugshot, Hollywood Murder, and Hello Kelly.
The hype for this service is so huge, even Capitol Records has hopped on board with a handful of their popular artists including Relient K, Hedley, R&B girl group Cherish, and former Destiny’s Child member Letoya. “Being an artist promotions company by nature, we are greatly into the music scene. Using BandSpaces, we are able to showcase our knowledge of exactly what a band desires, as well as adapt with their musical style to create something visually appealing to everyone” says Dana Bissett of Sugardevil Artist Promotions, creator of BandSpaces.com.
Myspace is a website that is visited by millions of people daily, and is the highest form of online publicity for bands at the moment. With a background in website and graphic design, the notion to mesh the two concepts was quickly formed. “The idea came to me when I was asked to redesign one band’s profile. Soon after that was complete, I noticed an incredible demand from other bands who wanted their profiles redone” explains Bissett. “I figured out how to work with the Myspace profile codes and enhance what can be done. So far, the idea has been a success!”
Success is right! A couple of the custom profiles created by BandSpaces were proudly showcased by Myspace.com in this year’s Mix ’06 Microsoft Conference featuring Bill Gates himself!
Sugardevil Artist Promotions is known locally for their hip rock parties, and this summer will be no exception when they throw the Official BandSpaces Launch Party, coming August 5th at Revival in Toronto, Ontario.
